UTHM has received 11 students from several institutions comprising the Sekolah Tinggi Pariwisata Trisakti, Institut Pariwisata dan Bisnis Internasional, Politeknik Caltex, Politeknik Negeri Sriwijaya, Politeknik Negeri Batam, Universitas Agung Podomoro, Politeknik Negeri Malang, Institut Teknologi Del, Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember and Universitas Sebelas Maret.
The Indonesia International Vocational Student Mobility Award (IIVOSMA) 2022 is a scholarship programme for Indonesian TVET students to travel abroad for the purpose of gaining experience and learning in collaboration with industry for one semester and is funded by the Board of Education Fund (LPDP) of the Republic of Indonesia.

Discussion regarding potential collaboration between GLA University, Mathura, India with Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia has been held virtually using google meet as online platform. The fruitful discussion has been took over 1.5 hours. This discussion was led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ramlee bin Kamaruddin, Prof. Dilip Kumar Sharma Dean (International Relations & Academic Collaborations) and staffs from both universities. During open discussion session, activities that can be conducted within both universities have been discussed such as; research scholar exchange, joint faculty exchange programmes, joint conferences, seminar, webinar, visits, joint publications and many more. At the end of the session, both universities have been agreed to sign MoU as the first step before proceed to the next activities. A Prospective Networking Meeting With RUT (Russian University of Transport)

A networking meeting was organized between UTHM and the Russian University of Transport (RUT) on the 29th June 2022, Wednesday. A total of 6 officers from the Faculty of Engineering Technology (FTK) of UTHM participated in this virtual meeting at the Russian House (Russian Centre for Science and Culture), Kuala Lumpur, under the ministration of Madam Svetlana Kovaleva (Director of Russian House) along with her team. UTHM was led by Prof. Dr. Chan Chee Ming (Director, International Office of UTHM), and assisted by Dr Mimi Faisyalini Ramli (Head of Department, Transportation Engineering Technology) and Ts. Dr. Sasitharan Nagapan (Head of Department, Global Programmes and Networking, International Office of UTHM). The purpose of this initial networking meeting is to propose and discuss potential collaboration plans through various mutual academic interests such as mobility programs, bilateral supervisor consultations, and research grants significantly in the railway transportation engineering technology field from both universities. Finally, this session concluded with both parties expected to sign the memorandum of understanding (MoU) in the near future. On behalf of the UTHM, we would like to express our gratitude, especially to all Embassy of Russia and the Russian House attachés involved for moderating this networking meeting successfully. Apart from that, UTHM also anticipates to have further bilateral collaboration initiatives with RUT, in the prospect of the education and transportation industry.

UTHM International outreach to Centre for International Affairs and Cooperation (CIAC), Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM)

UTHM International students have paid a visit on the 13th June 2022, to Centre for International Affairs and Cooperation (CIAC) . The main intention of this outreach visit was to exchange ideas in organising an ‘International Students Forum’, among other potential joint activities. The session involved the engagement of five (5) UTHM and four (4) UUM International students respectively. The visit was led by Prof. Dr. Chan Chee Ming (Director, IO, UTHM) with his opening speech through video call and assisted by Ts. Dr. Sasitharan Nagapan (Head of Department, Global Programmes and Networking, IO, UTHM), and officer Mdm. Nurhuda bt. Khamis (Senior Administrative Officer, IO, UTHM).The informal discussion took place from 9.30 am till 11.00 am, in the warm hospitality of UUM host, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Asmat Nizam B Abdul Talib (Deputy Director, CIAC, UUM) and Mr. Mohd Khairy bin Mukhtaruddin (Manager, CIAC, UUM). After the discussion, the students enjoyed an invaluable visit to the most singular UUM Management Museum, campus grounds and green surroundings. Later in the afternoon the students went on a tour of Alor Setar town, savouring the natural sceneries, green paddy fields and even a durian feast. International Office UTHM would like to thank UUM, especially CIAC, for the hospitality and fellowship. We look forward to further collaboration with CIAC and UUM, strengthening our working relationship for the students and nation.



International StudentTravelDiaries

11th June 2022, Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia
70 international and several local students participated in the UTHM Travel Diaries program. The students had the opportunity to rest and relax on the beach of Tanjung Balau and have fun at Desaru Waterpark.
This program was organized by UTHM Global Society (UGS) in collaboration with the International Office to provide the students with an opportunity to explore tourism in Johore. This program also facilitated international students in getting to know one another better physically and increasing cross-cultural interactions between international students and locals.

3rd June 2022, Russian Embassy in Kuala Lumpur:
Prof. Ts. Dr. Ruzairi Abdul Rahim, the Vice Chancellor of UTHM today continued his working visit to the Russian Embassy. The Vice Chancellor held a meeting with the Russian Ambassador to Malaysia, HE Naiyl M. Latypov to discuss on several potential collaboration activities in the area related to research and innovation, including the bilateral exchange programmes for staff and students, in particular with technical institutions in Russia. This effort was believed to strengthen the bilateral relations between the Russian Embassy and UTHM.
The Vice-Chancellor also visited the Russian House to take a closer look at the cultural exchange programme involving 62 UTHM students. Various activities have been conducted during the event including language, sports, dance and traditional Russian food preparation.
The visit was also attended by the Director of International Office, Prof. Dr. Chan Chee Ming.



Beloved UTHM Vice-Chancellor Professor Ts. Dr. Ruzairi Abdul Rahim'sEnergetic Discussion on International Affairs

16th May 2022, UTHM:
A courtesy visit was made to greet our newly appointed Vice-Chancellor. The visit was primarily arranged to present and to seek advice on current globalization program which is being arranged by the Department of Global Programme and Networking, International Office, Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia.
The concrete discussion lasted approximately an hour. The guidance on recommendations received, comprised of expanding international networking to Asia especially China, Pakistan, India, Indonesia and Egypt with a few other Middle Eastern Countries.
The Vice-Chancellor also shared strategies and thoughts on matters concerning university’s ranking and the need for the involvement of International Office with the university’s strategic team. Professor Ts. Dr. Ruzairi emphasized that the focused should be on UTHM’s unique programmes, such as Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) and Bachelor of Technology Programmes to increase the visibility and to penetrate international market.
As a final point, our beloved Vice-Chancellor also highlighted the importance of internalizing the spirit of togetherness (semangat kebersamaan) in attaining university’s vision and its direction as a Global Technopreneur University in 2030.

A Caring Visit to A Hospitalised Student

14th May 2022, UTHM:
The International Office officials paid a visit to an injured international student, Mohammed Najib Ahmed Abdullah Al Jabali, who had been involved in a road accident. It was informed that the accident happened on the 14th of May 2022, when the second-year Faculty of Technology Management and Business (FPTP) student was on his way to his home riding his motorcycle. He was then hospitalized in the Hospital Batu Pahat for his severely-injured leg. During the visit, the officials also wished the student a full speedy recovery and assured him of his health conditions.

This initiative was made to promote the university as well as to increase international student enrolment at UTHM particularly from Indonesia. This programme believed to enhance the university visibility in Indonesia.
In this outreach programme, conditional offer letter was also delivered to a numbers of indonesian high school students who wish to pursue their study at UTHM. The event was coordinated by UTHM strategic partner, Edvan Global Link Indonesia.

10th March 2022, UTHM:
International Office (IO) has paid a courtesy visit to Centre for Virtual Learning (MAYA) on the 10th March 2022. The main intention of this friendly visit is to convey a big ‘Thank You’ to the dedicated MAYA’s team members who assisted us on the recent International Partnership Signing Ceremony organized by IO, and to discuss on future collaboration is raising the University’s international standing via virtual means.

A Collaboration Discussion between Power Integrations and Faculty of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (FKEE) was organized and chaired by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Khairun Nidzam bin Ramli as Deputy Dean (Research, Development & Publication).
Power Integrations was attended by Mr. Charles Jo as Global Staffing Manager, Mr. Roland Saint Pierre, Mr. Vikram Balkrishnan, Mr. Stan Tan, Mr. Muhib Khan, Mr. Derek Leong, Mr. and Mrs. Puveneswary Chandra. Also, attend the meeting are Ts. Dr. Shamsul bin Mohamad as Deputy Dean (Academic & International) and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Wahyu Mulyo Utomo as Faculty Coordinator Global and Networking. The meeting was participated by 21 attendees from FKEE UTHM and Power Integrations.
The purpose of this collaboration discussion is to look for opportunities to hire the best power electronics students/alumni into the new design center in Penang and others collaborations. As a result of the discussion, the power integration has opened opportunities for alumni and UTHM students to participate in industrial training and employment-based in Penang. They also provide an allowance for students joining the internship program.

Virtual Semester Exchange Program

The international exchange programs are signifying a new strategic direction in comprehensive education and that broadens perspectives, builds diverse connections and encourages innovation and ideas across borders.
A group of four DIU students from the Dept. of Business Administration, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering have completed a Virtual Semester Exchange Program organized by Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM) for Spring-2021 semester. They have taken their departmental courses offered by UTHM and have completed 3 credits each. Our students are becoming part of the international community and having invaluable access to a wide range of cultures, faiths, languages, and perspectives.

There are from Quaid e Awam University of Engineering Science and Technology Larkana, Mehran University Khairpur Campus, Sukkur IBA University, Mehran University Jamshoro, Liaqat University Jamshoro and NED University of Engineering & Technology, Karachi. MBA Webinar Industrial Talk Series 2020
MBA WEBINAR INDUSTRIAL TALK SERIES 2020 this time has invited a speaker from Moscow School of Management Skolkovo Russia, Professor Dr Barbara Igel who has been appointed as the Visiting Professor of MBA Program at the Faculty of Technology Management and Business. The event was held on the 8th November 2020 at 4pm (Malaysia) and 11am (Russia). This webinar was conducted virtually through google meet and has been broadcasted live via MBA Facebook. The tile of the talk was An Investors’ View of Entrepreneurial Ventures which delineates the preparation of entrepreneurs in order to pitch about their new ventures in front of the venture capitalists. The participants for this talk were not only among MBA students of UTHM but also, Postgraduate students from public and private universities in Malaysia, Universitas Negeri Surabaya (UNESA) and Universitas 17 Augustus Surabaya (UNTAG). The program ends at 5.30pm.
